Partner Portal Sub-accounts - New Management System

This guide concerns partner accounts only
Partner accounts are available for annual pro plan, premium plan or event plan > 20TB.
If you are interested to become a partner account, please contact your account executive.

On January 19th of 2017, we released a Beta Test version of a new sub-account management system for the partner account. The goal of this new management system is to allow you, as a partner account, to directly manage your sub-account from your own DaCast account.

This guide will help you through the new features available in your partner account:

  • Theme customization section
  • Sub-Account section

As a first step please login to http://www.dacast.com/
Here is what you should see:

This is actually your partner account manager navigator in the new back office.
From that account, you can customize the theme of your account (part 1 of this guide) and you can manage your sub-accounts (part 2 of this guide)

1. Theme Customization

As a partner account, you now have the possibility to white label your DaCast account and customize it with your own logo and colors.
To do so, please click on THEME CUSTOMIZATION under the PREFERENCES section as shown below:

If you just got set up as a partner account, here is what you should see:

In this section you can choose:

  • Your logo (file < 1GB)
  • The color of the top bar (header color)
  • The color of the main buttons on the platform

Your theme customization will apply to all of your sub-accounts.
However, please note that when you switch to a sub-account to manage it, the color of the top bar will be red to indicate you that you're not in your own account.
Please see the example below:

Note: Removing all the mentions of DaCast in your sub-accounts is possible via our professional services and if you are already on an annual pro plan. Please contact us if you are interested.

2. Sub-Account

Please click on SUB-ACCOUNT under the ACCOUNT section:

You should get the list of all your sub-accounts as shown below:

In this section you can:

  • Create a new sub-account
  • Edit a sub-account
  • Allocate bandwidth to a sub-account
  • Allocate storage to a sub-account
  • Switch to a sub-account to manage it

a. Create a new sub-account

Please click on the orange button +ADD ACCOUNT as shown below:

The following window should pop-up:

To create your sub-account you need an email and to set up a password for this account.
You also have the possibility to control which sections the sub-account will have access to. To do so, please turn ON all the pages you would like your sub-account to access and OFF all the pages you would like to hide.
For instance if you want to give your sub-account the possibility to create Live channel and VOD only, just turn ON those 2 sections.

If you do not want your sub-account to receive an activation email from DaCast, please turn OFF "send an activation email".

Once you are satisfied, please click SAVE and then refresh your page. Once the page is refreshed, you should see the new sub-account at the bottom of  your list of sub-accounts.

By default, your sub-accounts will receive:

  • 0GB of data and storage, please see sections C and D to edit this
  • All your privileges (any specific feature activated on your partner account such as auto archiving or m3u8 will be activated for your sub-accounts - please contact us if you want to remove one of your privilege to a specific sub-account)

Please note that you cannot delete a sub-account as it would delete all its history.
To deactivate a sub-account, you can edit its email by adding a series of number in front of it to prevent the sub-account from logging back in.
For instance bob@dacast.com would become 365214bob@dacast.com

b. Edit a sub-account

Please click on the blue button EDIT next to the sub-account you would like to edit as shown below:

The following window should pop-up:

For each of your sub-account, you can edit:

  • Their email
  • Their password
  • Their permission which are the sections they can access from their account
  • Add / Remove bandwidth and storage (please see further in this guide for more details on this)

Once you are satisfied, please click SAVE and then refresh your page. Once your page is refreshed, any change you made in sub-account will be applied.

c. Allocate bandwidth to a sub-account

As a first step, please verify the total amount of remaining data (bandwidth) you have in your own partner account. This will give you an idea of how much data you can allocate to your sub-account.
You can check your remaining data here:

In a second step, please click on the blue button EDIT next to the sub-account you would like to allocate data to as shown below:

The following window should pop-up:

You can also reduce the amount of data allocated to a sub-account. To do so, please select REMOVE instead of ADD and enter the amount of data in GB you would like to take back. Here is what you should see when removing bandwidth:

Once you are satisfied, please click SAVE and then refresh your page. Once the page is refreshed, all the amount of remaining data will be up-to-date.

The process is exactly the same as for allocating data to a sub-account.

You can check your remaining storage here:

d. Switch to a sub-account to manage it

There are 2 methods to switch to a sub-account:

Method 1: Use the switch bar located in the top bar of your partner account.
The switch bar is available from any section of your DaCast account. Please see below:

Please enter the ID of the sub-account you want to manage in the search bar framed in red in the screenshot above.
For instance: 17462

Then click on the SWITCH button. The sub-account should open itself automatically in an new window as shown below:
Capture.PNG

To verify that you are logged in your sub account's platform:

  • Check the ID number in the search bar: it should be the ID number of the sub-account you entered
  • Sub-accounts now have a STATUS button instead of the UPGRADE MY PLAN button you have in your partner account. When clicking on the STATUS button they will be redirected to their status page (whereas when you click on the UPGRADE MY PLAN button you are redirected to your purchase page)

When you are done with a sub account, you can simply click on the QUIT button and the window will be automatically closed.
To verify if you are back on your partner account:

  • Check the search bar: it should be empty
  • Check the right top corner of your page: you should have a "UPGRADE YOUR PLAN" page
  • Check your left side menu: you should see the DaCast help page

Method 2: under your SUB-ACCOUNT section, please click on the orange button SWITCH
as shown below:

Once you have switched to a sub-account, your sub-account will open itself in a new tab as explained in the first method.

  • Status page

The status page gives the sub-account an update of his data and storage usage.
The display is the same as the one you have on your purchase page but sub-account do not have any plan and they cannot see DaCast pricing.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON THIS BETA TEST VERSION:

  • Please always refresh your page after creating, editing a sub-account or after allocating data and storage.
  • The section that will let you analyse the consumption of data and storage of your sub-accounts is not available yet; you can access the consumption of data of your sub-accounts one by one by going into the analytics section of their account.

Thank you
