HTTPS vs HTTP and Browser Compatibility Issue

We provide a DaCast player which is fully https and HTTPS delivery for all our video content:

  • Live channels (m3u8 links included)
  • VOD
  • Package
  • Playlist
Whether or not the flash plugin is installed, your video content will play correctly with a secure connection on all browsers.

Using the m3u8 link (for pro plans and above):
The new format of the m3u8 link with Akamai HTTPS delivery is the following:
//dcuniliveXX-lh.akamaihd.net/i/dclive_x@xxxx/master.m3u8

Please add "https:" in front of your m3u8 link as shown below:
https://dcuniliveXX-lh.akamaihd.net/i/dclive_x@xxxx/master.m3u8
This will ensure a secure delivery of your stream via the m3u8 link

Reminder of the workable solution to watch unsecured video

1/ Make sure your flash plugin is installed
  • Chrome
chrome://plugins/ => Make sure the plugin Adobe Flash Player / Shockwave Flash is installed and activated (version 24.0)
  • Firefox
about:addons => Make sure the plugin Adobe Flash Player / Shockwave Flash is installed and activated (version 23.0)
  • Internet Explorer
Settings => Manage Add-ons => Make sure the add-on Shockwave Flash Object is installed and activated (version 24.0)
  • Safari
Preferences => security => plugin settings => Make sure the plugin Adobe Flash Player is installed and activated (version 24.0)
2/ Verify if you can load a webpage with an unsecured component
Please note that these are workable solutions until we get the Akamai https feature and you should not have to do any of this trick if your flash plugin is correctly installed.
